Uh OH! my glass top stove

Oh, me too!

I bought a new stove for my little house and got the kind with NO PANS under the burners. The whole top of the stove is lowered below the burners, except for the edges. I just take off the grates which reach from front to back across the whole top (three spans) and wipe the whole surface clean.

WHEN the power goes out here (as I've been assured it will), I will still be able to heat my home and cook food with my propane appliances. Haven't changed the water heater over, though; it's electric.

Just moved to an area with no natural gas, hence electric stove. Bought one with coils because I WON'T give up my cast iron & I do a lot of canning. I wanted a convection oven for faster baking, but the conv. oven only comes with a glass top stove. My DD broke her glass top, too. Drop a small bottle on it. CRACK!!!! & replace.
