Usually in the novelty toy section (slinky's, putty, bubbles etc)

.....what it is for is...you take the probe of the therm. and nestle it inside the wiggler toy...and its supposed to give you a closer idea of the temp inside the eggs...because the eggs are liquid inside also....

....alot of people use them..but...they can be hard to find...

OOOOHHHH! OK I know what you are talking about now. Wow That is a simply awesome idea. We used to call them slippery snakes or something like that.

no problem!..you didnt interupt my thread!..take care, Wendy

I found the wiggler was testing lower than the actual temp with a certified medical thermometer. I now use a white aspirin bottle the approximate size of an egg. I fill the bottle with damp sand, you will notice the temp go up and down usually by 1 to 2 degrees. I take the min and max and average the temps. I also use a mason jar filled with water to help dampen the fluctuations. I noticed with both bators that if humidity drops the temperature rises. And the temp drops when when humidity increases. I use a LG still air, and a small custom built cabinet style from an old RV refrigerator.

thanks...the asprin bottle w/ sand sounds like a good idea also!....i have 2 LG's both are still air..but...in the one that the temp spiked in..i added a little PC fan for circulation...its been pretty good today though..except the humidity dropped real low...i just added some wet sponges..watch now the humidity will go way up..lol....

Yellow wiggler on the left and blue one on the right. This is an older
pic that I put all my thermometers in to test them. I buy my wigglers on
ebay. They only last so long since they are cheap Chinese made things.

First trauma was 107 all night long

next trauma (on same eggs) was 108 all night long (thanks to outside 40 temp *too hot apparently for the incy*).

I lost SOME but still have several spunky chicks in the eggs first few are due on the 17th!
