So, yesterday I was watching my ducklings walking around and playing. And then I see one limping.

I made a note to look at it and monitor it carefully.

But then this morning it wasn't limping. So I thought oh maybe it wasn't anything.

But then a little while ago I realized that I had the wrong one with the limp. I noticed that it looks like his leg is sticking out a bit, and slightly behind where it should be. He/or she seems to be limping a bit, but able to move around just fine.

But when you look at the pics particularly from above, it almost looks like there's something off.

What do you think this is?

Thanks.

(PS, she's about almost 5 weeks old. And none of the others are showing this. I don't recall if it was there before yesterday or not.)

See how it almost looks like a bump, and is slightly behind where it should be? She is walking around, but not fast, and with limp. Doesn't seem to be in pain.

Is that the flooring they are always on? Slippery floors can cause leg issues.

It is a slippery floor when its wet.

Dang it.

That might be what happened then.

I'm not sure what to do about it.

So if it is a dislocated hip will that go back on its own, or how do I fix it?

Jeez, trying to fix that would terrify the little guy too.

Thanks so much for your replies.

Well I took them inside because the neighbor's cat was suddenly watching them very closely and it got me worried. (Its not a good cat, its a sneaky hunting at night type of cat.)

So that's why they were inside.

To fix a dislocated leg, you must pull it back into its joint. You'll have to feel around for the dislocation before doing so, so you can get it back into place properly.

Have any of you done this before?

How do you know which way to go in 'pulling it back into place'?

I can't find much on this subject.
Pull it's leg back this direction?

I don't know why my markers are glowing, but oh, well.

You would want to this gingerly, & feel as you do. You want to feel it pop into place.
