Sooo apparently chicken math happens with incubation eggs too. i currently have 13 laying chickens, half of which are turning 2 this spring, so to keep my egg production the sameish I planned to incubate some eggs. My initial thought was to do 12 eggs, with the hope of a 50% hatch rate and half of the ones that hatch probably being boys, that would leave me 3-6 hens I figured, and whatever I don’t end up with I could just pick up some new chicks when they are in the store and I can’t help myself anyway. Well 12 eggs quickly turned into 18 because some of the shells seemed iffy, but then I only had one egg from my leghorn, so I waited to get at least one more of hers and I couldn’t have an uneven number so now I have 20 eggs in the incubator! (And I’m still hoping to get a couple new breeds when the stores start having them)
SOMEBODY STOP ME!!!:wee
