i feel envious of all of those in US who can trot along to the feed store and pick up medication. i don't even know if we have medicated chick feed in UK.

just read a post recommending vetrx and do we have it? no of course not.i would love to see s sticky thread on UK equivalents ...where they exist. i have used some dilute karvol. will see if that helps with hens congestion.

we would have to call out a vet at huge expense, who probably hasn't much experience with poultry, just to get an antibiotic.
sigh

what are you looking for

medicated feed is available here

its feed that has ACS

I buy it all the time

you just wont find it at Pets at home that's all

(if you close by I sell 25KG bags for £15)

What other meds do you need and I will tell you the names of the uk equivalents

Biocyst for cleaning coop for cocci control

Verkon S is Defra Approved cleaner for all avian and other animal diseases like Avian Flu, Newcastle Disease, Mad cow disease, etc etc

Harkers Corrid is cocci med (made for Pigeons but ok to give to Chicken)

There are a few more I have in my cupboard I will pull them out so I can write their names here and what I use them for

that would be really helpful. where do you buy these things?
i see mite powder and stuff for lice and anti pecking . some vitamins also but that's about it.
i am in wiltshire.

i just re read i was looking for vetrx. i think i should get some corrid in. if i think of anything i've looked for in the past i'll post it.
thanks

vetrx is a dispensable drug only allowed by vet by the looks of it and it a well being med

a over the counter one would be the Verm X range

Verm X is for deworming

another is flubenvet

and there is Keep Well that Should be good for you

and general poultry well being would be Poultry Zest

http://www.verm-x.com/

grab a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar and mix with drinking water

one thing I have found is these over the counter additives are more effective as they keep illness at bay so you wont have to go to a vet and get the real deal meds at such high prices
