Goodness it sounds all go at a your place with more and more addition! That was very nice of Ian to get you more birds Im sure his heart was in the right place with getting them but maybe not what you quite wanted!! Especially as you stopped your self from going to the sale!! I'm hoping these Pekin and Wyandottes will be gone next week, the Wyandottes seem to be taking an age to fully feather out compared to the Pekin and I still have no clue as to gender of them.

Did you figure out what's happened to your Pekin that passed away? Broodies all going well? Wish mine were more inclined to give it a go but I'm afraid it's not been this year.

The new neighbours have moved in next door and so far so good, no complaints about my Tolbunt cockerel crowing yet. Hope it stays that way

No riding here this week I'm afraid I've been on my own doing all the horse down at the yard as everyone else has been to equi fest at Peterborough this week. By the time I've been getting everything done and finished I have not had the umph to get on Harry. I've been bandaging Pickle too and her injured leg which takes about half an hour by the time you have got the old off, cleaned up and all the new on. It seems like you need about 10 pairs of hands to get it done then something is just out your reach or she moves as your hanging on to the dressings!! Weather says nice for next week so going to get plenty in then. Maybe the last spell of nice weather for the summer I think. Plus Harry has been as miserable as sin this week as his field companion had gone to equi fest so he's been on his own in the field which I think depresses him. I'm hoping he's going to be a bit more happy this morning as Brannon should have been back at T time yesterday

Think that's about it for here, for now at least! Hope you have had a great week and you have got some riding in!!

That's so nice of you take those poor ladies in, they sure do look like they need some TLC. I've never seen any that bald before, sure does look like they have had it tough. Good luck with them

The little one is now all dried up and handsome ^_^
However, he is half the size of the other ducklings, and so is being picked on and bullied. He seems to have a problem with one of his legs as well, keeps limping around. I also have to mush his food up for him becaus it is a bit too big for his teeny little bill...but other than that he is gorgeous! Quickly became the family favourite ^_^
Still having problems with Dave though...he just doesn't seem to be getting any better this time, no matter how many vitamins and electrolytes I give him. I let them all out with the others today and they all immediately set on him, now he is covered in blood :/ I have put him in his own hutch for now to see if he improves. If not then I'm afraid I may have a tough decision to make :/

Sorry about Dave I know just how you feel, I lost a most precious blue frizzle cockerel to wry neck. Poppet was so sweet and friendly and spent a lot of time in the house due to this condition so we became very close. I got him through several bouts of it but in the end took the decision to put him to sleep as it was not fair to keep him going with how he was. It was hard yes but it was for the best.

Sorry about Dave I know just how you feel, I lost a most precious blue frizzle cockerel to wry neck. Poppet was so sweet and friendly and spent a lot of time in the house due to this condition so we became very close. I got him through several bouts of it but in the end took the decision to put him to sleep as it was not fair to keep him going with how he was. It was hard yes but it was for the best.

Oh crikey he is gorgeous too! Oh I'm so sorry I know I've been debating it for the last few days...he does ok for a few minutes or so, but then as soon as something stresses him out he starts flipping out, his little head lolls back onto his wings and his eyes roll Ito the back of his head...almost looks like he's having a fit. Well that just encourages the other chickens to pick on him more, and all under his beak and on his wates was bitten and bloody. He is happy enough to sit in my arms and be carried around, but as soon as I put him down he gets bullied. I've never had to help something out like that before, so I'm quite scared to be honest. Plus I don't think I'd be able to forgive myself for not having stuck at t and helped him through it. How long did you keep your cockerel for whilst it had wry neck? Dave is only about 7 or 8 weeks old.
Yes I do believe this little duckling, now named Pekin, may not be a Welsh Harlequin like his (supposed) siblings! He's just too different...we think he may be a Welsh Harlequin/Pekin or Aylesbury cross...but he is developing a tuft on his head which leads me to believe he may be a Pekin. He has most certainly stolen our hearts!

They were going for the kill too, not just pecking but really vicious attacking. In the end he was showing no signs of improvement and his life was a constant struggle for him.

Poor little soul! I'm so sorry you both had to endure that I really hope Dave doesn't get to that point. He is still able to eat and drink for himself, so I'm guessing there is still hope for him to get better. Must've been awful to watch him become so helpless like that I will definitely keep going with him for a bit longer then.
