:celebrate I just received £100 worth of Allen and Page Smallholder feed vouchers in the post!!!!!!!! I entered the competition at the National Poultry Show, but never thought that I'd win. That'll feed the ducks for a year....

Ah thank goodness.  I too have been using the Wizard of Oz analogy tee hee. Is she sitting there clucking 'there's no place like home'? :lau

Have spent this evening putting the poles into two piles: OK, and can they be salvaged? :gig The caretaker at my school reckons he can salvage my tunnel so will show him the pics tomorrow and let him go with the 'challenge'! :lau

You have to laugh or else you'd cry don't you?

Am on a weekend KS2 marking standardisation in Rotherham on 4th and 5th of February - anywhere near you? My neighbour doesn't know yet but he will be on chicken duty ha ha.  He loves it.

Hope all is well with you.

Fingers crossed he can do the challenge! Your a teacher then? Your a braver woman than me :bow

I'm afraid I'm not near Rotherham, @GGBEAR is in Rotherham though :D

I'm good thanks, got a few things out of the way this week and I can now see the wood through the trees :D
But we have a red alert for flooding in our village right now due to the storm surge that's going to come up the river :/

@Yorkshire Coop

Hi Kim

Pleased to hear your girl survived her coop tumble. Mine little one blew over Boxing Day with 7 pekins inside. Amazingly they all survived it without injury but I have been paranoid since then.

I decided not to assemble my poly tunnel until the corkscrew tie down stakes I ordered afterwards arrived. They were delivered this afternoon so I need to crack on with that as soon as the weather allows. Really pleased I held off after hearing what happened to Paula's poly tunnel....such a shame. Hope it will repair. I've had to construct another pen for 2 older cock birds that were getting a pasting from the younger lads in the bachelor pad and a third one is needing more intensive TLC, so he is living in my feed room. The 2 in the makeshift pen have to be caught and placed in a large cardboard box each night and kept in the feed room too and then put in the pen through the day. I haven't got time to butcher them and they have lost weight with being picked on. The pen isn't secure to predators so I have to bring them in at night. Everything is taking so much longer to do now, that I'm starting to sink and I've hit a set back with my car as the horn and air bag have a fault and I'm told it's £325 to repair, but MOT due at end of month so it needs to be sorted. Trying to find a second hand part via ebay to save a bit on the repair as insurance is also due for it this month and road tax....eek! That poly tunnel purchase is now looking a little impulsive!

Still haven't had GGs out. How is Harry doing? My farriers will be coming again soon and these shoes haven't seen any action...I'm so ashamed! At least they should go back on which will save a few £s. Is Charlie's arm/wrist all fixed now?

Think that is all my news for now. Hope there isn't going to be too much more windy weather, so I can get that poly tunnel up and get some use out of it! We had a smattering of snow this morning and a bit more forecast for overnight tonight but don't think it is going to be too bad. Hope all is ok with you. It sounds a bit scary blowing the van about like that!

Take care

Barbara

My goodness Barbara. Doesn't it always come at once?

Poly tunnel was probably not my best idea but I am new to keeping hens ha ha.

Roll on spring.

Ha ha yes am a teacher and counting down the next six years till I can retire ha ha. Not brave-just daft tee hee.

Oh I hope the flooding is not a problem. It's one thing after another at the moment isn't it?

Good luck sweetie.

@rebrascora

Hi Barbara :frow

What a relief that you didn't get the poly tunnel up! I'm sure those cork screw tie downs will be very handy with this crazy weather. Yes I've become obsessed since the wizard of Oz moment yesterday. I have been going around checking things and fastening down incase these the winds return but water maybe the next problem if it floods :/ Having a red warning is pretty scary as that says threat to life, I'm hoping they are just being over cautious with it.

Sounds all go at yours with the cock birds and new pens but I see what you mean about taking up more time with moving them about but I bet they are snug in the feed room. Please don't sink too far :hugs

Ugh on your car! It never rains but it pours or so it seems. I just got the reminder for the tax at the end of the month too but thankfully that's it for the van this month. Make sure you shop around for the insurance, I saved £400 by changing providers last summer.

I've not been out Harry either so you are not alone, just seems there has always been something else to do of late and with the weather as it's been it has not been very inviting to get on board. I'm hoping Saturday should be a good day so I need to rope a victim in to come with me for a hack. I too had Harry's shoes put back on last time so at the end of this month they will need to be new ones.

Yes Charlie is all fixed up now with his hand thank you, all back to normal now. He's just sorted his work experience out at the local estate where he is going to work with the game keeper. He's really looking forward to it but it's a bit off yet and not until September but how he's going on he would like it to be next week. He's going on a beaters day there with the shoot at the end of this month and is looking forward to it very much. I'm pleased he has a hobby he's enjoying and not getting into mischief like some other teenagers around here.

Hope your having a relaxing evening Barbara :hugs

Catch you soon

Kim xx

I'm not surprised your counting down the years :lau
I would be pulling my hair out doing that job, especially with back chatting naughty ones!

Thanks on the flooding, I'm just hoping it does not come over the top or that the bank bursts :/
Right now it does seem to be one thing after another, but that's life.
