Love the Gower we spent a week camping there a few years ago, the Forest is a great place to live too and now 7 lovely brown hens have joined our family, it certainly makes lockdown interesting and no egg shortages here!

Yes we found one running around with it in her beak. I’m so relieved! Thank you

update on this. After a while of no eggs and increasingly Male like behaviour My Blue copper marans girl has become more hen like, stopped crowing, started flattening again and being easy to pick up, she went through a period of being wild! Every day she does her egg song, sits in the coop, comes out and announces her egg. The others get exited too! Nothing is there!!

my husband says she’s just practicing for laying eggs again. Does that sound right. It’s been a month since she was unwell and last laid, a week since the soft egg! Just need some reassurance when I was told it may take a while to come right is all this normal as it’s coming right. It’s almost like she’s gone back to the beginning of laying. Except we didn’t experience this, just found her egg one day with no idea what she was up to then! She never made a fuss about it before.

So agree about the egg song! Cracker our large brown Warren hen has the loaded song and it lasts for quite a few minutes, then again she does lay ‘double yolkets’ so worth the singing!
