Nice one where abouts in Yorkshire you from and what time in daylight.
I'm so paranoid about mine being out free ranging in my garden now after my last lot were killed by foxes I leave my dog outside all day unless its raining.

Also what do you do to dispose of them once you shot em?

I'm up near Goole/Selby way. The other half shot it at about 5pm T time. It was in our village. We are quite rural and it was at a local farm. They were harvesting at the time and it had to break cover as the combine went round the field. There were 2 of them but he only managed to get one and the other got away.

Once they are shot they go to another farmer who is working with a group of people I think it's a university or something like that. They go to him and are DNA tested, checked for diseases, weighed, measured and logged down where there were shot. It's to see how many there are and where they have come from. How they move around the country side and the like. I presume after all the tests they are incinerated.

You can tell the ones that have been released by the wildlife groups and the like as they are not scared of you at all. Bold as brass and usually scabby looking as they just don't know how to look after themselves anymore. Town foxes are the same, as they are so used to people it does not scare them at all and they have plenty of free food around.

Bloody things I don't understand why people encourage them into their gardens and feed em etc they are wild animals not pets! Once they know theres a food source they are relentless and become unscared of humans and their surroundings, I'm positive someone is feeding them around here.
If I catch 1 in my garden I will not hesitate to kill the wretched thing but God knows where to dispose of it, don't think I could cope with loosing my flock again

Yes there is no point chasing them. We also go out lamping on an evening in the dark with a rifle. You don't always see them and you have to be at the right place at the time. Here is one that was shot with the rifle it didn't even hear the bang as its that fast ~

Any cockerels I have get culled and go out for fox bait. Put the birds out in a strategic position and the foxes smell them out. Once the fox is still and you have the lamp on them so the shooter can see, BANG that's it gone.

Hi UK peeps...hope someone picks this up on here...I was wondering if anyone uses or has info on any poultry couriers? I'm hoping to purchase some Swedish Flower Hens but need them transporting from Sussex to The Midlands. I know there are various companies on the Internet but would rather go on recommendations. I'd be grateful for any assistance. Many thanks.

Sorry I've not get any experience of poultry couriers or transporters. I did have a lady email me once form Devon way about some of my polish, she wanted to use a courier and said she would sort one but then never got back to me so I didn't get to find anything out about them.

Hope your able to find one :fl
