That sounds exciting !! Mine have settled down into confinement better than i expected.
Timon
Mine have been out to be honest -although under a chicken shanty town of covered runs etc. All food and water inside as advised. After keeping them locked up together for a few days I made the decision that I would probably lose more hens by bullying than by AI. Silkies are frequently broody so often quarantined to a covered broody pen ha ha.

To be honest, am planning to pen one side of my garden and have a good clear out at half-term. From what I have researched, backyard flocks are the least of the problem. Anyone watch Countryfile? How are wild birds contained? As have said before, do the best-good bio-security etc.

I watch it or at the least the bits I'm interested in :D
Wild birds are not contained so that's bound to spread it about.

Hi sweetie

I love Countryfile even though I live in the burbs ha ha.

Exactly. What difference are our little flocks going to make if we are (as is very obvious), being ultra careful?

Oh I hope so! She deserves a lovely birthday weekend ha ha. Will cheer her up!

don't know if u read a post I wrote earlier when this whole fast started i let mine stay out for a couple of reasons
1. I do not believe it s fair to keep my 5 chickens and 5 ducks contained in their coop together for long periods of time as there are to many to be locked in there for a long time the coop.was built for free range just sleeping and shelter.
2. If they was locked in there for long periods there would be a blood bath and bird flu

or not I would have very few birds left, to me it is cruel, I said if it became really bad ie: Very close to me I would separate them and have chickens in coop and ducks in house.
3 there feed is in a galvanised treedle so wildlife can not get it and water in coop out the way
Mine have been fine touch wood .
so for me let the poor buggers out before they get PTSD LOL

I let mine out today...wow, they were really they excited. I know I shouldn't have but boy...they've had enough. They absolutely flew up the garden as if they'd never seen it before. They were only allowed 2 hours and then I had to round them up. The ducks in particular were desperate. However, I've just popped out the back (for a sneaky ciggie, naughty I know) and I can hear the foxes mating and something was really squealing....nothing of mine, I checked, but it was not a vixen noise so I think I'll keep mine contained for a while more.....awful screeching noises...worries me. Is it fox transient time @Yorkshirecoop ?
