UK Member Please Say HI

Hallo all,
Just dropping in to say hallo from South Wales.
We are lucky enough to have recently moved to a new home with plenty of space to be able to return to keeping chickens - so the incubator is full & there are some ex battery ladies arriving soon. & we are busy busy getting their accommodation up to standard!

Hi :frow Welcome to the thread!

How exciting to be starting out again, it sure does sound like you are busy there getting ready! What do you have cooking in the bator?

We've got blue Orpington's, light Sussex & Swedish flower hens in the incubator, its only day 4.
Trying to be realistic in our expectations as all the eggs came through the post plus it's a new to us incubator - we've never hatched this late in the year before either - so fingers crossed!

Good luck with your hatch :fl Nice breeds you have in there. I've found hatching this late especially if the central heating is on is that I tend to need a slightly higher humidity during incubation. I put this down to the heating drying the air out.

Thank you & - thanks for the tip! - I'll keep a close eye on the humidity!

Hi again :frow

Yeah I find I need it a tad higher when the heating is on so the eggs don't lose to much moisture. I start at 35% for the first 7 days until I candle. If the air cells look too big I put the humidity up to about 45% to slow them down.
