JemimaP ... at last.... how are your numb toes today.. They look super duper chickens, all worth the wait... now you will get more hooked. :wee

Yes we live next to fields and a nature reserve that has lots of foxes.
My girls are very quiet this morning. They got up and had breakfast but they’ve spent the majority of the morning chilling under the coop. It’s quite cold today so I don’t think they’re looking for shade.
Yesterday when I brought them home in the afternoon they were really active, climbing the ladder up to the roosts I built and playing on the swing. Every time I came to see them they came running over all inquisitive.
Are they usually quieter in the mornings?
Sounds like they are settling in well, its their first day really it will be a bit strange for them I guess at the moment. Sitting under the coop and looking out to the world I guess is a secure place to be.
Last night was the third night I left my little ones out in their little coop and run with plenty of straw. Up I get at dawn to see if they are all ok, they all seem pretty happy lol

I checked Lectra (my non bearded white broody silkie) yesterday and she is sitting on 6 eggs. 3 of them are from my poland, one is from her (bless) and the other two are from my white bearded poland. She has a nest under the coop. I have a secret panel to underneath at the back where i give her a bit of wet food and fruit, so she doesnt get dehydrated. I was thinking of making a small run at the hidden back door for when (or if) the chicks hatch.... but Im also wondering about the wild, chicks arent secluded in that situation.... I mean should I bother, would my rooster Joffrey do anything.

Well the eggs didnt sell, maybe i should hatch a few and take photos of them so people (and me) know what they look like. With regards to the pictures of my little guys above im just waiting for their mum to lay another egg and I will have 6 of those to sell.

Is 7 weeks too young to give my little bantams treats? I gave them mealworms and they didn’t know what to do with them, not interested in banana and haven’t touched much mixed corn.
I’ve only given them little bits to try. They have a mix of chick crumb and growers pellets in their feeder.
