Wow that's great restraint only getting on here at weekends, I'm an addict and can't stay off!

Is it all going ok with your new birds?

Well unfortunately a lot couldn't turn in the eggs so they died. I have one that's hatched but still has shell attached and one that's absorbing but it's very quiet. My last lot of eggs for the year haven't gone as planned!

No it isnt was a big shock to see that duckling with no eyes though!! It was moving around like normal etc. I'm thinking I got given eggs that were maybe involved in some sibling mating?

No you just need to forget about it, sometimes it just happens.

Think I'm done for this year! Well, I say that I'm good with my little group. 2 miniature appleyard ducks, 2 Aylesbury ducks, 2 black marans, 8 button quail and hopefully 2 runner ducklings!!

Hi yes it's all going really well, I'm very happy a with them. We have an egg a day from them too, so we are well chuffed.
I know what you mean about being on this site, it's so addictive, which is why I restrict myself. Where are you based?

I'm in East Yorkshire, not too far from Hull, Doncaster, Selby. Sort of in the middle of them.

Where do you folks get your button quails? I wouldn't mind a few fertile eggs..

BTW, do you think it would be handy to have a UK section? Just thinking that we have quite distinct needs and set ups etc

This is the uk section. I bought my button quail eggs from eBay I had a 50% hatch rate with those if that helps.

As a rule I'm not into "Pretty Chickens" but started last year with Wyndotte bantams (for Mrs C)

And I must admit I'm quite taken with them.
I've bred some lovely Blue Laced, Buff Laced and Gold Laced chicks
