Does not look like any case of bumblefoot I've ever seen or treated. This is the first I've heard of footpad dermatitis, so I can't comment on that. If that was bumblefoot, there would be massive swelling in addition to black scabs.

Sorry to wake up a thread from 2007, but the comments here make me think this is the situation my hen is dealing with. None of the pictures or links are still hosted from this original thread.
I am adding a picture of my hen's foot to see if anyone remembers this being foot pad dermatitis. She is a 1 month old barred rock, slow to feather and the smallest of the bunch. Both feet look like this and she is the only one with the issue. They have pine and hay bedding in a 10x12 coop (12 birds total all the same age)

Hopefully someone can remember if this is what footpad dermatitis looks like? Appreciate any insight that you may have!
