Ultimate stuffed French toast

2 slices of bread with crusts cut off
spread cream cheese on one and strawberry jam on the other
join together
dip in beaten eggs
brown in pan with melted butter

I've done this with orange marmalade in place of the strawberry jam.

I sweeten the cream cheese by mixing in some powdered sugar.

This makes a great gift if you freeze the stuffed & battered "sandwiches" .
I set them on a cookie sheet in the freezer, when they're frozen solid I wrap in plastic wrap or put into freezer bags.
I also make a syrup using frozen orange juice & maple syrup - about 50/50 - and give that along with the toast.

Ok my sister made this! Its to die for

and if you add a slice of meat like turkey or ham and a slice of cheese youl have I believe a Monty cristo sandwich! It also comes with 3 slices of bread. Yum! Oh she didn't cut off the crusts and it was still good

When I stayed at a B&B in Virginia, the host made that recipe of stuffed French Toast, but she took it one step further: after soaking the "sandwich" in the egg mixture, she dredged it in crushed cereal flakes! Oh my goodness was that good! The cereal makes for a crunchy-good exterior. I think she spread cream cheese thinly on both slices and plopped a goodly amount of strawberry jam in the middle. Whatever....it was yummy!
