We were going to get into showing, but the kids realized they'd have to travel with the birds and leave them in the cages for a few hours at a time. They were not too keen on that idea. We were going to show in 4-H our hatchery birds. Our chicks are our pets and we are very happy with them.

So you know what those chickens are made up of? Because I dont so IMO their mutts until I know what their made of!
I dont like keeping my chickens cooped up either.. Last show I was at I was always turning around in my seat to look at them and leaving my husband at our sales table just to go check on them once we cooped in... leaving my husband was an epic fail.. people asked him questions on our birds for sale and he didnt know what to tell them so he made things up...

Sorry this happened to you. I guess the good part is that you got pictures before "making a deal" on them. Everyone's opinion of "show quality" is really amazing. There are folks who show in small county fairs with no other silkies and think that makes them "show quality".

Nonetheless...there is no excuse for bad behavior.
