My first two baby chicks hatched 24 hours ago and I have moved them to the brooder. Both have a dried poop string trailing behind them. Should I do something about this? I don't want them to be blocked and get sick...advice?

Oh my goodness...maybe. It's dark brown and coming from the rear-ish area. I should just leave them be, then? I noticed one stepped on the other string and it didn't "give". Sorry, I'm super new to this. First hatch ever.

Sounds like the "umbilical cord" so to say from the navel. If it is dry, you can snip it short, but don't pull it off. Might be good idea to snip short if it is long enough for them to step on.
