Well, up here, we had rain on Saturday, but none on Friday.

Wild fires sparking near me all over. One in Daytona, then on Thursday one in Lake County! Our Sonic had one in their mulch!!! I wish it would rain a little more!!! One day just didn't cut it!!! Although, too much is just as bad!!! Not sure I want to go through a Hurricane, we went through the Christmas day tornado, and that was torture!!! And Charlie, Frances, and the other one, those were not fun at all!!! Good luck d.k! Steph

* Thanks for the info, ibpboo. I'll look it up. Good to talk to someone who's been on common ground, despite the circumstances. You take care. Say 'hey' to the giant artichoke for me!!!

* Hey, Steph! We had 2 days of pretty bad smoke in the area from a drift combination of a mansion fire across the intercoastal to the north and a glades fire to the south!! Somehow it worked out that, smack dab in the middle, we got the smoke from both blazes. Since the rain though, the weather's been really good. Hear we got a launch coming Saturday-- be great to be able to actually see it this time!!!

How are the fires in your area? Are you unflooded yet? In 2001 two of my boys and I flew to FL to watch a launch. We stayed in Coco Beach. 1/2 before take off, lightening struck and it was canceled.

So we went back to Tampa to my friend's house and the next day it took off but there was only one big huge cloud in the sky, and yes, it was blocking our view.

So only got to see it on tv. my heart sunk, I went all that way.

Can you see the launch from your place? Cool

* Depends on cloud cover, just like in Cocoa Beach, though I should think up there, you could at least hear the roar of it as it takes off, have it rattle windows or something. We're too far to see the actual shuttle. Just the rocket fires-- Looks like a big roman candle flame. I'm always surprised by how far west we seem to have to look because of the "belly bulge" of the state to the north and the curve of the earth.
