Unabsorbed yolk sac? HELP!!!

I have been hatching these Rhode Islands for my teacher, one of them hatched with this little red yellow sac and at first it looked like his intestines. But after reading and looking at picture online I came to the conclusion that it could be his yolk sac. It has now been three days and it hasn't go away but it has gotten bigger. And now it finally looks like it's drying up and getting ready to fall off. He lays on his back all day and sleeps. Yet he is still able to walk and open his eyes, he just doesn't. My parents and sister believe that is in agonizing pain and that we should put him out of his misery. But I still think he has a chance. Please someone help me!!! What can we do!!!!
