Unbelievable find in chicken droppings....

Funny what chickens will & will not eat, isn't it! I've watched my whole flock chase after a live mouse, catch it, peck it to death & then take turns tearing bits off to eat. :sick However, a mouse got into a straw bale & dove out while my husband was moving the bale to put in the chicken run. He stepped on it & squished it. The chickens came over & sniffed it, then all walked away from it! Food snobs... apparently 2 seconds dead wasn't fresh enough for them!

When I feed purple cabbage, about two hours later, there it is...purple poop. So, the digestion moves along pretty quickly. But, vegies are processed fast compared to raw meats. Think about all the chewing you need to do on a piece of steak. If the old choppers aren't up to it, your digestive enzymes will finish it, regardless. Chickens have digestive enzymes too. Hm-m-m, definitely not enough grit, and maybe not enough digestive enzymes. The snake should look a bit more gooey from the enzymes. Hm-m-m... again.

These chickens! Always giving us something interesting to think about. So funny & hilarious too!

They really are little dinosaurs! It's why I always feel a bit sad when I walk by the "vegetarian fed" chicken eggs at the grocery store. As though they wouldn't eat us if they were big enough :)
While I've never seen my birds take out a snake, I have watched them destroy mice, voles and frogs. I hope they leave the snakes alone... I like their garden services.

I interpret 'Vegetarian Fed' as having been fed by Vegetarians or actually fed Vegetarians :lau

PS. No offence to vegetarians intended
