We were at Yellowstone last August and have pics of a bison walking, actually plodding, down the middle line of the road with cars passing on each side (with everyone taking pics as they passed by, including us). The bison in the news pics was probably wondering where all the cars were because that grizzly would have been run-over by on-coming traffic. When we saw the hoof prints around some of the really hot thermal areas, I wondered how many animals got hurt by breaking through the crust and now know of at least one. Those burns look really bad, the article doesn't say but perhaps the bison was down on the ground by the time the Park Service found it so the decision was made to end it's suffering. The article doesn't say that the bison was removed, perhaps it was a meal(s) for many animals (just not where the public would see it). It took us 50+ years to see Yellowstone and I'd go again if the list of other places I want to see wasn't so long. I recommend it to everyone every chance I get.
