Kelsie2290,

Thanks for the reference to those articles on Mareks. Have spent much time on them. Feeling more educated. Will be able to use the info soon to ask you all some ethical questions about birds that are strictly pets.

Is if this works boil up some eggs and mash them up real good and let them eat it and see if it gives them some vitamins they might need or might be missing at the moment .....

Gander007, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm such a newbie that I have not yet had the chance to educate myself into what special foods and treats my girls may need. Things like how much protein can they handle. How much animal protein versus plant protein. Junk food. Joy food. All of that.

I am out of eggs and since I do think these girls are going to reward my efforts on their behalf for a while to come, I will buy some today and see how the hard boiled egg goes down.

Hey Everybody at BYC,

Thanks so much for the welcomes.

Here is an update. It's been 13 days since I have a lost a bird from this unfortunate flock of throw aways. Anybody have an idea how long it might take for me to feel comfortable with the idea that these girls will not die of Mareks? Please, don't say never!

The remaining four do well! The three that have remained symptom free throughout thrive. Robust. Attentive. Fully entertaining! Are they resistant or is more likely that they were inoculated? I assume the latter.

Even the one that tried dying twice and failed is doing better. She's an americauna and I call her Wobble, because she is a bit wobbly. She is clearly compromised, but she is starting to grow and fill in and from all the time free ranging, she is getting stronger. I know she may still succumb to other issues that her compromised system cannot handle, but I'm hopeful that my little Wobble will be the one to thumb her nose at death.

If any of you want to link me to an article regarding how to care for Marek's survivors, it would be welcomed.
