Thats because they're frozen. I don't move fast when I'm cold either.

Anyone buying chicks this spring? If so which breeds? DS 15 wants Cherry Egger and Golden Comet. He is also interested in Turkeys and I am leaning towards white midgets. Jump in if you have any thoughts on these choices.

I just finished my center block for the URR quilt block exchange. Like I said, forever ago, I would make a Carpenter's Wheel at 24" to put in the middle with the other 12 blocks around it.

and then, a carpenter's wheel that I started somewhere around 15 years ago and almost had it all finished. I didn't realize how close it was until the other night when I looked at it. I have no idea what I intend to do with this little thing so it is what it is... small.

That will look awesome in the quilt. And what a tiny, tiny carpenter's wheel! I bet you could find a place for it in the quilt,

Coldupnorths blocks have arrived and bringing with them snow flurries so now they are nuzzled all together with the other blocks toasty warm, I will get the blocks sorted and shipped next Thursday, I still have my 6 extra blocks to do and will get them done this weekend but as usual I will post tracking numbers by zips.

Lacyblues how pretty and it will look amazing with the other blocks, I think you will be surprised at how the colors will look together. as for the small block looks like a coaster to me now you just need to make 3 more for a set. I know adding to your quilt list, mine is growing so fast.

I'm getting my buff hens again, I like to cross them with RIR roos the girls are so pretty and great layers, nice meat birds too but I don't eat my chickens when I get too many roos I sell them and they go like hot cakes. As for the Turkeys year before I raised 2 Broad Breasted Bronze birds and they were very good when it came time to eat them,We had (this was the big girl) 13 people eating white meat 3 of those were kids and everyone got their fill of turkey and we were still picking off white meat. BB's get too heavy for their legs and they don't reproduce naturally so they are really just for the freezer,at about 22 weeks they are already up to 20 + pounds if you feed them turkey/game bird feed, but I raised mine on the chicken's food what ever the girls got the turkeys got and they grew slower so I did get to enjoy them longer, and saved money too. They really were sweet birds but they would of ended up dieing anyway so I was not going to let the meat go to waste. My big girl dressed out at 25 pounds and her sister was 22, and I processed them at about 7/8 months. Then I had 3 bronze birds not BB's this past holiday season and they were very small like big roasters, needless to say I won't get them again unless I want to just have the birds around. So having said all that the birds your looking at would not be big but they would reproduce naturally so it depends on what you want the turkeys for. The male are topping out at about 13 pounds those kind of turkeys are know for being small.

I was planning to put the white midgets in the barn yard flock and heard they did well overall. We have a super sized family but eat very little meat. I was worried about the other birds being too large. I might run it by DS 15. I like the idea of giving them chicken food.

My birds all lived together and free ranged together, had to put sturdy roosts for the turkeys but they all got along fine and all ate the same stuff, now I didn't have to worry about Black Head that turkeys can get from chickens because my birds free ranged alot and black head comes from them scratching in the poop it comes from a worm the chickens can carry and affects the liver in the turkeys. but I don't see why your girls couldn't live together happily,
