Underground RR Quilt Block

I like the disappearing nine patch also. I have done the disappearing four patch before, this one would be easier because you could turn it so not have to match seams.

Hmmmm with the 5 inch square sewn onto the 10 inch square is it important the 5 inch square has pinked edges. It seems it is in order to fray the right way. At least it seems like that is what she referred to in the video. Anyone else hear that?
if you buy precuts then it will have the pinked edges but any material will fray and roll in this quilt pattern

Lets do the disappearing 9 patch as demoed on you tube by the missouri star co. also posted in fenrosie's post and the number required will be 24, now what colors, blues?, violets, red , tan, blacks and whites, greys, oranges, greens, yellows, one color or two? what would everyone like to do,

I liked the streak of lightning much better. And my baby is here. She was born on the 8th. She is precious

We haven't done any violets/purples. If we use different fabrics for the 8 edge pieces and then maybe a soft yellow for the center piece, that would give us lots of room to play and still have something grounded that will pull all the blocks together. So the purple range that will likely be florals so some greens and other colors will come into play.

I do like this idea I think it will make a very nice quilt, so I will set up the next swap and then post the link.

I'm not suggesting we start using layer cakes or jelly rolls, I am only using these block ideas for the ease of strip size and cuts,
now I have another brain wave, what about this suggestion in this tutorial, it is an I spy block, and I could get the background fabric, send it to our blockers and you just pay me back when you ship the blocks, that way we all have the same back ground, I'm not saying go out and buy a layer cake either, just fill your jar anyway you want to, we would have to decide on how many jars to make and what size, this could be for a future swap since it would take a few weeks to get the supplies to each of who sign up.  anyway take a look at this clip and tell me what you think

Minniechicks~congratulations! Nothing, nothing like a precious baby!
I also like the disappearing nine patch! Colors doesn't matter much to me. I'm not a fan of bright colors, but what ever is decided I will go with. I need something a little quicker/easier! ;) not that the urr was very hard, but, when my squares don't square up, it drives me crazy!
I will have to get some instructions from you seasoned quilters on cutting for this next one.
And as for the surprise coming from our friends on the other side of the pond, :clap :jumpy .
I love surprises! Thank you very much, in advance.
Someone posted earlier asking if any one was going to get chicks this spring, sorry I don't remember who. It is to hard on the nook to go back and forth. I'm planning on gettingsome buckeyes. I bought some in '13. A friend and I split 12. I got 4 roos and 2 hens. I'm down to 1 hen due to a fox. But I absolutely love my buckeye hen. Can't wait toget some more. Thinking about a couple of turkey's too. Just need to research what kind to get. I will keep an eyeon this thread to keep informed.
I've missed being on here with you ladies! Hope everyone is doing well and keeping warm. It actually hasn't been to bad here the last couple of weeks. Hi's in the upper 30's - low 50's. Nites in the low 30's to upper 20's. That is a heat wave compared to what we had in the beginning of the month! Single digit hi's and below 0 lows! Brrr!
It's time for us to start thinking of getting ready to make maple syrup! Ummm! We made it last year for the first time and loved it. That will be coming up in february.
I will keep checking back with you all. Fighting a head cold right now, so I'm going to shut my eyes for a bit. Take care all, and God bless you!
