Oh no. I was just sitting in the pen with the girls, waiting for the sun to hit the yard before (supervised) free range time. Ruby, my Buckeye, whose nickname is “Adventure Girl,” because she is very curious and is often off doing her own thing, had a chunk of something in her feathers on her back end, which I discovered giving her a little rub while she squatted. I don’t think it was there yesterday, but cannot be totally sure, since her behavior is completely normal, and she is still laying. I *just* discovered this. Came inside to prep some things and will keep you posted. I don’t know the extent of it yet, but I’m pretty sure there’s an injury. Will investigate, take a pic if I can, and report back. Not sure yet if it’s something that should be soaked, washed, sprayed, etc., but here’s my arsenal:
