Unexpected Duck, new "dry" picture

It was just a pin point of blood on the membrane. He has a big enough hole he can get his whole head out of it he wants to.

Ok, I chipped away some more egg shell, in a different direction, before I ran into more blood. I'm confident now that he can get out when he's ready. I'm leaving him alone now! I made my decision.

I would let him rest for awhile. He still may end up needing more help though. "Goodjob".

Keep us posted.......

Yeah, if you have it open enough for him to come out and he isn't strong enough to make it out on his own, he probably wouldn't be viable anyway. Good Luck...KUP!!

Editing: Be sure the humidity is really high and put him near the wet sponge. This is in case it takes him a while to come out. You wouldn't want the sticky membrane drying to him thus gluing him in the eggs.

He's still stuck and I dont know how to help him!! The membrane did dry to him. The humidity is 80%. I just tried peeling off more shell but it still keeps bleeding!! I moistened the membrane where it had dried out with water. I dont know what to do!!!! Wherever I try to chip away the shell at, it starts to bleed!!

It's best to leave him alone if your running into blood he will bleed out....my opinion....

This is one of the reasons they take their good old time to pip and zip out.....

I don't know alot about ducks. This was my first year to hatch ducks. 11 so far, they seemed to be slower about coming out than my chicks or turkeys. I helped a few too. Even with help they took their sweet time.

I would get him out of there. I think the blood your seeing is just the stuff inside the membrane. If he is glued in, he won't be strong enough to come out on his own and will just continue to grow weaker. I say get him out and hope for the best.

I sure wish I would have gotten mine out last night.

Editing: Is there any way you could post a pic of the bleeding to be sure?

Do you have him partly wrapped in a damp warm washcloth? If not, do so. Tuffoldhen is right; you need to stop picking at the shell. If he can breathe, he's okay. If he's bleeding, he's not ready to come out. It's as simple as that, and you really can't force it. But leave him in his washcloth for *at least a couple of hours more* and hope for the best. I wish you all kinds of luck.
