Unexpected Duck, new "dry" picture

Well I dont know what's going on with him. He keeps moving his bill really quick but no noise comes out. He's just lying there, trying to get the rest of the way out, and moving his bill like that. I need to get to bed here soon, so I guess all I can do is hope for the best.

I have been reading your thread and I HOPE your baby is ok! One of my chicks did the moving the head thing really quick but stopped after a few hours. It was almost like he had something stuck in his beak or nose. Now he's doing fine

It is hard work hatching. That is normal behavior. Just leave the baby alone until it can get itself together, sleep, and get to moving around.

It has now been about 20 hours since he hatched. He can now hold his head up fine but he's having trouble walking still. I'm hoping he's still just tired?? This morning he couldnt hold his head up for more than a few minutes.

The other two eggs.... nothing. But the one that hatched DID appear a bit more advanced than the other two when I candled 2 days ago, so maybe....

Here he is. I also am going to post this in the What Breed is This section, but if anyone knows, feel free to tell me lol.

Give him time. It can take an entire day for them to get strength to do much more than sleep.

I agree with Miss Prissy---just give it time! Hatching is hard work. Mine always just sleep the first 24 hours. Look like they're dying half the time and then next day, they usually have more energy and are mving around. Just tray and give him some time to rest as much as possible.
