Glad he is out alright.

Glad your little duck made it! Did you figure out what kind it is?

I only read the first page so far..
THOSE ARE DUCK EGGS :-) Get the moisture level up.
They take 28 days to hatch and need a higher moisture level than chicken eggs.

:-)

The other two, I candled last night. for whatever reason, they are behind. They are both still alive, but have not broke into the air sac yet. I'm taking my lame duck out today, and keeping the humidity up for the other 2.

His legs are much better now. Next problem. He's not eating! How do I get him to eat? Or is he just not ready? He's 48 hours old, and in the brooder. He drinks, but only if you dip his beak. Is he just not ready to eat yet, or is there any way to encourage it?

Try cutting up some grass or other greens and sprinkle on the food and on the water.

The first day it may not eat. I got mine started on a puree of spinach leaves with a little honey water and teaspoon of yogurt. They went crazy slurping and smacking over it.

Well now he's drinking on his own, and he TRIED to eat. He took one little small piece of food and he DID eat that, but then he tried another piece, and was chewing? but he couldnt do it, and he spit it out. I tried moistening some, but he dont want that at all. I'll get some yogurt tomorrow and try that.

He's not at all like my chicks. My chicks are indifferent to me, but this duck, as soon as I walk away, he'll peep until I come back, then acts all happy when I am there and stops peeping. Too cute!

Oh, one more question... what are ducklings supposed to eat? other than food, is everything else the same with ducks as with chicks?

I have mine on a gamebird chick crumble food by Blue Seal. The lable says it covers chicks, turkeys, ducks and geese. Ducks need more niacin that chicks and they cannot tolerate medicated food. Mine are also getting the spinach/yogurt puree for the 1st week and then a more chopped soupy 'salad' of greens and yogurt as they eat more and better. And tons of water.
