Unexpected Duck, new "dry" picture

Hello..glad to hear he's making progress. I had a duck that hatched a few weeks ago and his brother/sister didn't hatch for two more days, so I understand the peeping when you walk away part! lol It kind of gets annoying after awhile--but the good news was that once his sibling came along, he was MUCH more content.

As far as duck needs, they are basically the same besides food. Remember--no medicated feed for ducks! It will kill them. One thing I did to encourage my duck to eat was make a mash with the feed. Just added water to the feed. That way he was able to get used to the taste and how to eat. Also, I would put my index finger in the food and kinda of flick it around, like it was a duck's bill eating. It usually always encourags them to eat because they eat when the see other ducks eat.

Anyhow, keep us posted!!!

Oh thank Goodness you posted that!! I had medicated starter in there!! I think he only ate one little piece, that wont hurt him will it?? I got it out right away, and replaced it was non-medicated starter.

I guess Mr. Duck knows best, because he wouldnt eat the medicated, but he ate several pieces of the non-medicated.

Awww...He is sooo cute. I am waiting on some duck eggs in the bator. Just put them in there yesterday. I have another batch coming too. And some pheasants. I fed my current two ducks chicken starter. It was medicated I believe. They are fine! I never had a problem. ?

Haven't decided what to name him yet.

No word on the other eggs yet, just waiting them out.

This duck is a PEEPER lol. Bout to drive me nuts lol.

He is standing and walking now, and drinking plenty, eaiting very little. I'm gonna get him some yogurt today.

Whew! Thank goodness you got the medicated feed out--he should be okay if he only got a little bit. Make sure it's all out though--no pieces on the floor. You can get non medicated starter feed at Tractor and Supply. Yeah, they don't shut up! lol While it's cute at first, it gets old real quick!

Hopefully you'll have another hatch here, so he can have a buddy!

Ducks don't like to be alone. If you set him on the floor, it's the cutest thing to see them run! lol
Good luck!
