Unexpected ducks

Turns out they belong to the property just down stream from us. It is about a half mile from the road and blocked by a plot of woods so you can't really see much but the drive way. Looks like a junk yard. We moved here 8 years ago,, but they never stopped and introduced themselves like the other (neighbors). The guy said they have had ducks for 5-6 years and started with 3. One of them had a bum leg and disappeared 2 years ago. He said they have a shelter out back pointing to a lean-to, they completely free range, and I shouldn't have gotten ducks if I didn't want them in my yard

I know. They seem like a real piece of work and probably not worth having a dispute over at this point. My birds will be in the run protected this year and we will have to figure something out when we start letting ours out. I don't mind them being here in general just don't want them to harm mine

Totally understand. My neighbor used to let his girls (chickens) out and they were frequently in our front yard. I actually didn’t mind bc it meant they were eating bugs and stuff for us. But my girls (chickens) started flying over our fence and trying to intermingle. I know he takes very good care of his chickens so I’m not super worried about Illness, but I wanted to make sure they weren’t mixing.

We don’t seem to have wild ducks land at our pond so I’m not super worried about our ducks being out and about. In your case I’d definitely keep an eye and think it’s smart to keep yours contained for now. We got rid of 2 drakes bc they were being too rough with our girls.
