Unexpected owner of 6 young chicks found by side of the road...

They are so cute!
I'm not great at identifying breed, but just give me a minute.
Okay... the black one is probably a mix with either Australorp or Black Sex Link.
The white one could have anything... could have broiler, leghorn, EE, etc., but I am guessing white rock.
The grey ones could be blue (so maybe andalusian?) or they could just be grey chickens, which would make my best guess EE with some generic breeds like barred rock/RIR.

I think it'll be a lot easier to tell around they time they have adult feathers so you can tell breeds, and also around when you see their combs.

Any guesses on gender?
I'm glad you asked for pics, the coop looks much better with the aquarium light in there (found it a better spot) and the chicks seem to be more active with the bright light over their feeder. Hoping they figure out how to eat out of it now so I can stop scattering the feed all over the floor of the coop.

They look happier for sure [:
As for gender... it's a little early and the pics are not ideal for telling, but my best guess would be that your black one is a boy, the grey one in the 3rd picture next to "him" looks a little rooish, and the white one MIGHT be.
That's just my first thought. At this age, it's really too early to be sure.
And keep in mind, since feathering isn't a good way to tell at this age, I'm just going off the redness/size of the combs, which could be glare in the pictures or just how close they are to the camera. It could also be that some of them are different breeds. For example at this age a leghorn cross would have a larger comb than an EE cross.
You could just look at their combs closely and if any are redder than others (redder than pale pink, really), I would think of them as a possible roo. If you have any with white/light pink combs, which looks like you have 3 or 4, you can think of them as possible hens.

and that is a very nice bunch of chicks to start out with.......hopefully there are some pullets.

Wow, I had to totally leave a comment here so I can keep tabs on these darling babies!!

You aren't going to be able to stop the chicks from scattering their food. Even in a normal chick feeder, they still manage to figure out how to scatter more than you want them too...chicks LOVE to waste food!

Not too worried about waste, anything that gets outside the coop magically transforms into dog food. :)
