UNEXPECTED VISITOR

My neighbor has a huge coop with an unknown number of chickens and an unknown number of roosters. they crow all day every day. I first went to my neighbor to ask if they would please come over to get their rooster. They said they do not have any. That is when I called the police. THey are in violation of a city ordinance against farm animals. They have had chickens for years and years and I have never cared. Not until now that I am being involved. They refuse to take him back and to be honest I don't think he wants to go back.

Now that makes more sense. Any other neighbors with chickens?

I would take it as a sign from the gods that you have been touched by the chicken angels and it's time to build a coop and get some hens!!!! it looks like one of the Asian types that is, actually, closer to what the original wild chicken is thought to look like. chickens, roosters too, have a wide range of personalities. If he has come to your house and has not come after you, chances are he is one of the more approachable ones.

getting comfortable with chickens generally takes just getting over your jitters and how unfamiliar it is at first. After a while, you bring them into the fold and they help bring rhythm back into your life and before you know it you start to wonder how you made it so long in life without them :~). WELCOME TO BYC, perhaps you'll hang around!

Well, thank you. I have already talked with my husband about bringing out the old dog house and throwing some hay in it. I understand that they eat about everything and I can even put out table scraps. I will definitely take care of him until I can find him a home.

Welcome to Backyardchickens.com aka BYC! :frow
We are glad you joined our flock.
Poor guy. If you are going to keep him for a while please get him a complete chicken feed. Feeding him corn is not good for him.
