Hello, my first coop was a proper building with insulation, built in nesting boxes, and a little chicken door. It was also $1700.
For our meat birds, we thought we might go a little cheaper. We saw an old article from a chicken farmer who uses cattle panels and tarp.
We're planning to put tarp in the front and the back as well and put chickens in there about 6 sq ft to a chicken. It'll be inside a roofed run. Somewhat mobile, but it'll kinda scrape on the chicken wire roof. Am I missing something here or is this a sound idea? It'll be Bresse chickens, and when they go broody we were thinking of moving them to the proper coop, if that's even possible.
