Unhappy Neighbors -What to do about our cat.

You say he is outside cat but when he wants out to go out and or do is business does he let you know by scratching door, hollering, or knocking things off of tables n stuff one by one to prolong getting your attention? If not then I must have a special potty trained cat.

If your cat goes missing, immediately check your local animal control. Years ago, we had neighbors who didn't like our inside/outside cats. As we were getting them all inside, some went missing. We found out that the neighbor had animal control set traps to catch them, prior to complaining to us about them. (We thought they were just on walkabout.) Luckily, we were able to get them back, but it was a scary - and costly - lesson.

edited because I see that you have some great offers for a new home for your boy.

@ cheryl ~ Make sure to take up all of the poison that you have set out prior to getting the cat, unless it's specifically marked as predator-safe. When I was a kid, we lost a wonderful Siamese to rat poison when a new renter took over my grandmother's cow pasture and barn. The guy put out poison and we didn't know it. We always left Tiger with my grandmother when we went to the beach. Sure enough, he caught a rat, and the poison killed him.

Jamie, I made sure and posted this on the WA thread and looks like it worked out well. I hope you can meet up with cheryl and I know she'll enjoy your wonderful cat as much as you. Good Luck to you all.

What a pretty kitty. I think re-homing the sweet one would be well worth it. Cats are so good indoors. I grew up with cats and it was always so easy to take care of them. We would even be able to leave town for the weekend and they were always fine. Now, my husband and I have a dog and its like having a child. If we want to go out of town, we have to pack a bag for her too!

OH! Your only about 30 minutes from me! He wouldnt be an indoor house kitty at all really. He would have a 4 stall barn, with large storage room, Even larger feed room, and a tack room to roam through, plus the expanse of rafters to play in. For the most part he would have 24/7 access to the feed room. I could easily supply him with a crate or something to sleep in or on. Let me double check and make sure I can still have a cat up at the barn. Lord knows I need one. Would love to not have to place out poison anymore. Cats are just much nicer than ugly black packages of green death pellets...

Oh by the way, Im very near Kingston.

Thats perfect. If you can have him I can meet you...say half way in Silverdale? He's really talented with the rats/mice. Idk how many times I found half eaten carcasses outside our porch....sometimes he'd give me a two 'fer deal and there'd be a mouse and a rat, or a mole and a snake...LOL

PM me for details....I will be available for a drop off Wednesday through the weekend.

That will work perfect, as I wont have my car back from the shop until tomorrow at the earliest. Darn machanic says he keeps finding things wrong with it, when all he was supposed to do was change the fuel filter... Grr... Oh well.

I will PM you as soon as things slow down here at home.

Hey BarnChick! Thanks for posting this in the washingtonians thread! I never would have seen it, and I think he will be PERFECT for my little barn. And heck. If he doesnt like it at the barn, I could always use a good mouser here at home as well!

now this might work! My husband is taking a trip to Oregon Coast/Florence next month. Would you be willing to meet him some place?

Yep. That's quite funny. I'm planning a bachelorette party and we're going to be staying at a beach house in Pacific City on the 18th of June. Let me know what his dates are and he could cozy on up at the Lazy Excess Ranch!

LOL! I hope you mean "he" the cat!!

My cat, Beaucoo, went to his new home today with a fellow BYC'er, cheryl98117. I am happy to have found a home where he'll be loved and also useful to someone else. Thank you Cheryl!

Your welcome hun! He's all set up. Food, water, a bad, litter box, and a large room all to himself! Of course, being a cat, he imediately went into hiding. Found himself a nice cozy corner behind a bunch of boat seat cussions. He'll be just fine, and once he is settled in, I will get you some pictures.

Thanks Jamie! He's gonna work out perfectly!
