Had our fourth chick hatch out this morning and immediately noticed yolk and blood smeared all over the incubator. I’m not sure if one of the other chicks stomped on it before it had time to absorb or exactly what happened. It had quite a mound of blood and goo stuck to its butt. Anyway it was moving a bit and trying to stand so I let it be. Still in lockdown and all that. Well I checked again the oldest chick that hatched yesterday was pecking at its swollen butt. So I immediately removed all of the bigger chicks leaving this one to heal. Well it’s been in there all day, happy as a little clam cheeping and strutting but still has a big bloody butt although maybe it’s smaller. Hard to say since I’m barely opening it so as to keep the three other pippers safe. Is there anything I should be doing for it? I don’t want remove it as I don’t have another brooder where it will be safe from the other chicks.
