To those who breeds rabbits, what do you do about an uninterested buck or doe? He is a little over 6 mos so I would think he should show at least the slightest interest and she is 8-9 mos. Is there anything that can be done to encourage both of them to breed?

hmm...not sure about the buck...never had problems there. Maybe try waiting a little longer or just keep trying. When does have issues i put my hand on their face to calm them and they dont jump around then. Sometimes i also have to lift her tail because she wont- then the buck can do his thing.
If you have others you could try breedin with a different rabbit but dont wait too long to breed the doe or she could have problems during birth.

My bucks weren't interested that young, but a month or so later they were. Try again, I say...but then I'm just trying this for the first time so I'm not much for advice, LOL.

I should hopefully have my first kits in a couple weeks, if all went well.

Is the buck uninterested or the doe? Or both?

You can try switching their cages for a day or so, sometimes being exposed to the other one's scent will get them interested.

Well I gave them a rest today. I'll try again tomorrow. If that doesn't work then I may in a few days. I have the doe for a week. My friend wanted to breed her doe and my buck. If it doesn't happen this time around, oh well. I do think he is kind of young but some are ready at that age and some are not.

When I put them in this evening, I did switch the cages. I'll see how tomorrow goes. Someone even suggested trying to mist their food with Wheat Germ Oil. I'm willing to try anything. LOL I am even planning on playing classical music.

General rule of thumb when breeding rabbits,
smaller rabbits, netherland polish, holland mini lops, jersy andything under 8 lbs will be ready to breed by 6 months the arger the rabbit 8 + lbs the older they are when they are ready to breed, usually between 8 and 10 months.
You only said angora , which breed whats the weight?
Some French Lops can take up to a year old before being ready to breed and most angora breeds are around the same size.
I have had french lops ready to produce ay 8 months and some at 18 months. depends on hormones, interest and conditioning.

I leave mine in a colony. The does/bucks breed by three months or less in most cases. I don't think you need to wait ten months. I have a three mo old buck breeding girls right now in the colony.

That's unhealthy, especially breeding does that young. That's like a 12 year old girl having a baby.
