This guy's bio mum was black bantam cross, was a sweet dorky hen that has a look as if she only possessed 2 brain cells (u know the type). I'm guessing she was part serama as she was absolutely tiny. unfortunately she was unalived by a dog and her eggs were saved and hatched by some resident broodies, which are making great foster moms. Father is also cross breed, unsure of what exactly, perhaps silkie cross? I absolutely love how half of this little guy's beak is black, almost down the middle

Its sibling/half sibling hatched a few days earlier and is pure blonde. They were hatched/adopted by different hens. Will post more photos of them with their adoptive moms tomorrow...both moms had waited a long time for their sole chicks after multiple eggs failed to develop/had to be discarded due to cracks and explosions. I'm just glad there are 2 chicks to go to 2 moms as both of these moms had sat 35+ days! These are valuable chicks!

Beautiful chicks!!! Unique color...hope ot keeps the big colored beak

Foster mum loves her/him, and the other hen loves her chick too (chick on newspaper)

The mottled chick's mum is a full sized rescue hen, not sure of breed, and is very friendly while the yellow chick's mother is quite flighty (and very outgoing, she's taking him on tours in the rain a few days after hatching and he keeps up and is clearly healthy and already his true feathers are sort of a dirty mottled white color) I think the chicks personalities really suit their mothers because the darker chick really does seem more demure and is always hiding under it's mom and she hasn't taken it out in the rain yet...i'm really interested to know if the chicks impact their mothers behavior or it's the other way round, and if it's the mothers impacting the chicks' behavior, I want to see how differently the chicks grow up, if their mum's different personalities will impact them to be friendly/flighty

Update! Chicks are....a few weeks older now, I think 3 weeks and a bit...here is what they look like now. I used to think the older white one was a boy and the younger black one was a girl (both are biological siblings, potentially different dads, but same mom, boy is older by 2 days) but its comb is yellow while the black one has a clear red hue. Black one is also more flighty despite having a chiller mother, and is quite a bit smaller than the white one even for 2 days younger
