Back is nice and long ( no such thing as too long as long as there is a matching width IMHO).
True, not always, but in general. Then there is mahogany to deal with, as well as a total melanization (is that a word?), where an otherwise E^R bird will express as pure black, yet still carry the gold/red gene. Some believe that the hackle coloring in the bird above, shows a tendency for Wheaten in the mix.
I'm still very much trying to learn all of this! Old dog, new trick!
