Hi all! We are new to backyard chickens, and got our first flock from tractor supply last week in March, so they are about 18 weeks old. We were told we had 4 Isa Browns, 3 Rhode Island Reds, and 1 Barred Rock- all sexed as we were looking to raise our flock for eggs. However, a couple weeks ago, our “barred rock”, Nugget, started crowing. We definitely don’t think Nugget is a barred rock, but now we don’t know what kind of bird or if we have a rooster on our hands!
Our thought is that we have an Australorp or maybe a black sex link? Nugget is much larger than our red and brown hens, another indication of a rooster?
