One of my 3 yr old leghorn just died about 20 mins ago, judging that she was still warm... This morning I went to the coop and realized she was very groggy, but still alive, in the corner... I got her up and put her outside. When I went back again a while ago, she was dead in a corner. My dad and I buried her, but before we did I checked her abdomen and she did not seem eggbound. Earlier this morning, it seemed that the chickens were pecking at a broken egg on the ground. My theory is that she may have had a pretty big egg (She was one of our largest egg producers) and when she was laying, it broke inside her, and blocked her bowels, or it cut up her inside? What do you think? Also, is there anything I could do for the rest of the flock? I'm cleaning it out tomorrow and for now we spread some fresh hay and gave them fresh food and water with apple cider vinegar. Thanks, Sam.
