I’ve lost 3 young roosters in the past 4 weeks or so.The first one seemed okay a day before he started showing signs of being sick (not eating or drinking, fluffed up feathers, distancing himself from the flock, being apathetic in general).I’m in high school so i wasn’t able to pay attention to them since school started (the one who noticed was my sister who gets 2 weeks of online school so she feds them for me). After eating a bit,i saw him pecking for food so i thought he’ll be fine if i’ll give him vitamin water the next day (saturday). He was dead when i looked for him in the morning. The other one died the same day but i didn’t notice he was sick too.
The third one died a few days ago. When i noticed him fluffed up,i immediately took him inside and i gave him vitamin water, eggs,a bit of corn, some sunflower seeds and a bit of bread.I would let him outside during warm hours since it started raining and getting colder last month. While quarantined inside,i noticed all of his waste was liquid so i tried giving him less vitamin water and eggs.I also gave him apple cider vinegar mixed with water after i was laying with him on my chest while reading and noticed that from time to time i could hear him breathe (through his nose) so i immediately googled his symptoms:apathetic, fluffed up,loud breathing through nose, loss of apetite and also i saw him repeatedly “yawning” even though he didn’t nap or eat before (and he was sleeping most of the time). At first i thought it was infectious bronchitis, then looked up more and i thought of gapeworms or airsacculitis.I had 3 days off (the weekend+monday) and the last day at home i saw he didn’t fluff up anymore, ate better and his poop wasn’t liquid anymore. But i didn’t check his breathing and i regret that a lot.So i brought him outside again cause nobody would’ve been inside the house to take care of him (+my dad would get mad) while i was at school. The next day (tuesday) he went back to his initial state but this time his liquid waste was completely green and he moved even less than before. While i was laying in bed with him and kept looking up treatments and trying to diagnose him,i heard him breating through his mouth, stopping and then starting again. He started doing it constantly,i got really worried, put him down the floor and sat next to him.He wouldn’t stand up and tried to crawl away from me while breathing faster and faster through his mouth and that’s when i realized he was dying.I called for my mom,she picked him up and left him somewhere else so he could die away from everyone like he wanted and also because i couldn’t stand watching him die,i immediately burst up crying.
Now one of his brother is sick with the same symptoms, except his comb started going darker. He’s in an earlier stage than the other one was when he died. But i don’t know what can i do since i don’t even know the right diagnosis. We live in a village and my mom said that the vet wouldn’t consult them as they consult pets only?I thought the most appropriate one were gapeworms but i didn’t see anything in their mouth.Do i need to get flubenol? Also i don’t have electrolytes yet.I’ll get some tomorrow.
They are 4 months old,bantam chicks,i don’t know which ones specifically.Please help.

What are you feeding? It looks like is probably mareks disease. If one has it they all have it. Definitely keep him separated. There is no cure for it unfortunately. There is a vaccine to prevent it though. Have they been vaccinated or do you not know?

Sorry about losing your chickens to some type of illness. Where are you located? If your parents would let you contact your state vet in the US for a necropsy on one that you lose, that could give you a diagnosis. If you are in the UK or elsewhere, a vet could do the necropsy. Green poop usually means they are not eating. It sounds like one of the respiratory diseases, such as infectious bronchitis, mycoplasma (MG,) coryza, or ILT. Aspergillosis from mold spores can also cause problems. Have you seen drainage from the nostrils, bubbles in a eye, swelling around the face or eye, or a bad odor? Those symptoms can help to tell some from others. In the US you can get antibiotics for pigeons that might help. Vets are the only place to get them elsewhere. Here is some info about MG:

No,they haven’t.Since we got the first pair as a gift 2 years ago,my family doesn’t know anything about raising chickens. My grandma does but she never mentioned vaccinating her chickens,i doubt she ever did.Can they get it (the vaccine)when they’re 2 months old?I have a separated flock from the one that got infected.

I forgot to mention that i saw and heard something dropping from the nostrils (the one who died recently). He was usually on my shoulder so i only saw it drop with my side eye.Didn’t notice any of the rest.I live in Romania, the vet clinic i mentioned is the only one in my village. The city i go to high school to has more vet clinics and tomorrow i will get medicine hopefully but i can’t bring the chick with me.

What kind of food do they eat? They should get a complete balanced chicken feed as the majority of their diet. It would be hard to know exactly what is killing your chickens without some testing or a necropsy. A respiratory disease, intestinal or other type of infection sound more like a problem than Mareks. Make sure their food is mold free and give fresh clean water daily. Look your birds over for mites and lice, and consider worming them.

I agree with this. I don’t remember you saying what you are feeding them. Are you feeding chick food? And definitely check for bugs.

Corn mostly, just started feeding them poultry pellets.Apples and boiled eggs sometimes or tomatoes (rarely). This summer i also fed them pears and watermelon occasionally.Bread crumbs also when i ran out of milled corn for the little ones.
