unknown roosters what breed? please

My brain's fried today. Obviously the feet would have partial feathering if he were a Cochin OR Silkie. Thanks for catching that.

Not necessarily, leg feathering can either be dominant where it shows, or recessive where it doesn't. And like i said they could be even three way crosses... Breeding back to three quarters non-feathered legs would completely erase the leg feathers. I was basing the silkie off of the head shape, it's just like a silkies, or looks it. Especially if you saw it from the side i believe....

The vast majority of foot feathering is caused by the dominant ptilopody genes. I do know that the dominant genes are in silkies and cochins. I believe that both these breeds carry both dominant genes, unlike less heavily foot feathered breeds, who usually carry only one. I dont know which breeds carry the recessive gene.

Yes, crosses are not necessarily pure X pure, but could be the result of mixed X mixed. And that would allow the removal of foot feathering. FWIW, I have a PQ silkie hen with no foot feathers.

Doesn't look like a silkie's head shape to me. And that comb...not a rose comb like I've ever seen. Looks more like buttercup, but not quite that, either. Comb genes can mix to make pretty odd looking combinations.

Going by the second picture that silver and black bird looks to be around 12" tall or so.
( He is around the 3rd run on that 2x4 wire fence. ) If both the silver and black bird and the black bird are around the same size then I would say that black chicken could be
a Polish and Old English Game Bantam cross.
