Can anyone help identify what this is? My 20 week old just up and died, when I checked her out this is what I found. Very little evidence of bugs, maybe a small handful (like 5) of mites but not quite sure what those look like either (new chicken momma) she was perfectly fine yesterday and into the evening when she went to bed.

I'm sorry about your pullet.

The best way to find out what that is and why she died is to bag the body in plastic, refrigerate it and send it to your state lab.
You can find you lab here:

Mites have 8 legs, do you see bugs with 8 legs or are those flying buffalo gnats?

The lesion on the skin, possible a wound, feather cyst, lymphoma...very hard to tell. Where is that located on the body, is that the only one?

Check your other hens and pullets to see if they have any bugs crawling on them. If they do, they use a Permethrin based poultry dust to treat the birds and spray your coop/housing with a Permethrin based poultry spray.
