I have about 25 quail and only 2 have names. A crotchety roo that is named an explicit and a broody hen. Pretty much their group name is "little birds" & quail.

Freezer camp is just referred to as the breed thats in there. Right now Penny roos.
Most of my layer group doesn't have names. A few have gained names due to their friendliness or personalities. Its usually not me that names them though.

We named one of our meaties but only as something to refer to is as because it was sick and needed treatment. think it was named greeny or something (for the green coloring we put on its head) creative I know :p anyway he certainly wasnt regarded as any more of pet than the other birds

I mean, maybe this will change if I ever get more chickens, but I dote upon all of our chickens. They have names, nicknames, recognizable personalities and everything in between. Again, maybe it's because we only have three of them, but we love those ladies as much as we loved our old dog.
I made that choice (quails) because I wanted to produce something even though in an apartment. My dog lived to be 17 years old. She was family. I'll never take another, especially in an apartment. I don't want to see them as pets though I take a lot of care of them, and I'm very excited learning things and I name them. I can't express exactly what I mean in English. I feel compassionate and guilty when they suffer but I don't want to "humanize" them as many people do with pets. I want that healthy relationship that old generations had with their animals in that small scale "farming" economy so typical in Mediterranean countries. A very small orchard, a few hens, one goat or one pig. Not at the balcony of course 😂. Though I thought about aquaponic small scale systems. It seems a bit complicated though.
