but one time my cousin's neighbor's best friend's sister's wife had a rooster that laid an egg once so it must be true

once had to passionately explain to a girl i knew that hens lay eggs and they have to be fertilized by a rooster to have chicks, not that roosters lay fertilized eggs and hens lay the ones for us to eat.

someone buying a hen from me asked if shed been fertilized so she could lay eggs. like they cant lay eggs until a rooster "starts them off"

May is an ok month to raise chicks. The warmer the better
