Aaah but not wanting us to bond over boofs(chickens) is a unpopular opinion about chickens therefore belongs in this thread.

let’s get this back on track, i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, showing chickens is so much more complicated than it needs to be. screw breed standards my chickens are pretty and i want people to see them

I have no problem with people that know if their bird isn't standard quaility. Almost all of mine aren't

But you also shouldn't be mad that yours aren't and then try to convince people to change the standard

Right then..Hey People! I don't like Silkies cause they look like a demented cross between a bunny and a chicken,I also don't like Frizzles because their feathers are just ridiculous.Polish are walking hawk targets and Naked Neck's just terrify me.Fight Me.

Some breeders of rare and expensive or endangered birds will use polish in their flocks so hawks and predators go after them and not the important birds

My Satin silkie is gorgeous !

I think most chickens are ugly in the face, but the whole chicken can be pretty. I have boring white rocks. LOVE their eggs and their antics!

exactly, i understand breed standards but i also wish that all the pretentiousness i see from professional breeders was out of the way. showing your chickens has become less about celebrating the original breeds and preserving breed integrity as it has just a small group of people showing chickens, it’s really hard to get into breeds because of that. i really wish there were more “casual” chicken shows where mix breeds were allowed, as well as ones that push for breed integrity. at least in my experience that’s what i see *sigh* if only i hadn’t gotten my entire flock from various feed stores, maybe it’d be different
