Thank you! I hatched him myself from my Buff Orp rooster and my silver partridge EE hen,he is a sex link and will be 3 yrs old this March. Isn’t it interesting how he got his moms beard (I guess that’s a dominant gene?) but it’s the reverse color? I wonder if there’s a separate gene to control beard color ( like the Columbian gene controls cape color). Interesting!

I never thought of it but now that you point it out it is strange!very intriguing..maybe one day I'll learn the genetic reason for this.At least I hope so.

let’s get this back on track, i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, showing chickens is so much more complicated than it needs to be. screw breed standards my chickens are pretty and i want people to see them

Unpopular opinion:

It's OK to cull a chicken for silly superficial reasons like just because it is orange or another chicken because it has 2 copies of recessive white.

It's GOOD to cull a chicken with an actual defect.

Culling could just mean rehoming - it doesn't always mean the chicken goes into the soup pot. But, chickens with actual defects should probably go into the soup pot.
