With what now?

It's a method of composting/raised bed making, but I mainly use it to lift soil level since good dirt is so expensive where I live (BECAUSE OF THE CURSED CLAY).

The basic gist is you layer wood logs (thickness depending on just how high you want the top of the soil to be), thinner wood logs (or skip to branches if you're not going for too high), branches, hay/straw/leaves/twigs (any of these or all), topped with soil. The plant matter decomposes over time and turns into rich dirt.

It's hard to manage depending on where you live (CURSE YOU CLAY SOIL) but I've mostly solved my mud issues with hugelkultur.

That 'u' is supposed to have an umlaut, but I'm too lazy to find it right now.
All right now, Emma taught us how to spell Ameracauna. Hugelkultur is _________. 😄

Neat!

And for when you’re planting but the shovelpoint bounces off the dry soil surface. Perfect description. A+
