Unread threads

You would never know the threads are doing that if you don't pay close attention because you don't know what is being posted and then "marked read" behind your back so to speak.
If you want to follow individual particular threads click on to 'watch the thread'...not the whole forum.

Yes the whole subforum "marked read".

Well don't do that anymore and you won't have this happen.

Do you understand now why it's happening?
You every time you click that button every single thread in that section, up until that point, thinks you have read it.

I don't think I've described what is happening correctly. As an example:

I look for the new threads in the subforum "incubating & hatching eggs" which are bold. The ones I've already read are not bold.

When I get done I will click "mark read" so the threads that I didn't look at, because they didn't interest me, will be "marked read" also. That will make all of the threads I've glanced over not bold. This just makes it easier for me to look at the forum.

Now the page "incubating & hatching eggs" refreshes and there will sometimes be a thread in bold that was just posted. That is how I know what is new.

But every now and then I will see a thread in bold that when I click it, it takes me to the middle of the coversation and somehow has "marked read" the first part of it without me seeing the thread. The only reason I have noticed it is because that thread would have interested me, and I haven't read the first part of the conversation, and I haven't clicked on that thread to read it or have ever seen it. This is the part I don't think you are understanding.

They are new started threads (within the last time I visited the forum) and not an old thread someone has dug up. It isn't any one particulart thread.

Aha.

This thread. Never saw it before or looked at the thread. See how the first link takes you to the top of the page as if you've never seen it before.

Now click this link to the same page. See how it puts you in the middle of the converstation. That is how it just done me and I've never seen the thread until now.

This has to be happening to others but they just don't realize it and they are missing parts of the threads.

I believe I understand what you are saying.

Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it didn't exist at the last time you clicked the 'marked read' button.

I believe you are being placed in the middle of a thread because that is where that thread was the last time you marked the whole forum read.

Can you call me?

I think what Kiki's trying to say is that every time you click that "mark read" button, it thinks that you've read all of them up to the end. Then when you go back onto them, it will take you to whatever page the thread was on when you pressed the button

The first link is just to the beginning of the thread.
The second link is to a specific post in that thread.

Yes.

What I'm also saying is if you want to read threads from the beginning never click marked read at the place you're clicking it.... Because it is marking all of the threads as red up until that exact second you click that button.
