So uh, the incubator still has not gotten here, I went to go turn the eggs in their makeshift 'incubator' and I wanted to check on the oldest egg and I found lots of bruises on the shell. Does that mean the little guy is trying to hatch? Last night i did some candling to make sure he was good. I sprayed it with some water to make sure it stays moist. Is the egg trying to hatch? The bruises are big..

How old are your eggs again? I it looks like this, then the duckling is pushing against the shell and getting ready to pip.

Looks like it's getting ready to hatch! Go ahead and put them in lockdown.

Also, what breed are you hatching! Please keep us updated!
Duck egg! unfortunately, since the incubator has not yet arrived and my heat mat is not providing enough heat. I have to have the duck against my body for proper humidity and warmth. I did spray it with water and put it under my clothing against my chest Debating using an insulated blanket to help keep the heat in till the incubator gets here.

I don't know the specific breed but its either a muscovy mix or a pekin duck at the ranch we have a ton of ducks and they mix alot so its hard to know what specificly.

It can take up to 72 hours for the ducklings to go from pip to zip. Hopefully your incubator arrives soon!
